building is cheap. the trap i'm climbing out of.
i ship something. i feel good. nothing happens. i ship something else. i feel good. nothing happens.
the trap is that building has gotten so cheap that the dopamine of shipping has decoupled from the dopamine of users. ai amplifies this — i can now ship in a day what would have taken a week. it just means i build five times as many things nobody uses.
the fix i'm trying
before i write a line of code, i write the launch copy. if i can't make the launch copy interesting, the thing isn't interesting.
this is obvious in hindsight. it isn't obvious when you're high on shipping.
